Case Worker

Diana Kraus

This assignment at Valley Restart is the culmination of a considerable amount of schooling in which I received an Associate in Arts Degree followed by a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from California State University, San Bernardino. My passion to peruse these educational degree has been based on my continued curiosity of social life, changes in social activities and the impacts human behaviors on large society organizational structures.

Growing up as a young lady in Guatemala, I have had the opportunity to experience a country with many social problems and considered by some to be one of the poorest counties in Latin America. It is these memories of my past that has driven me to realize that the beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from me.

I moved to the City of Hemet in 2021 and since then I've been enjoying the weather and scenery of the beautiful mountains that surround my community. In 2023 as part of the instructional course I was given an opportunity to work at Valley Restart as an intern. It was during that period of time I learned about the role and responsibilities of the Case Worker. The experience allowed me to gain valuable insight to learn about the structure of

the shelter including participating in interviews, assisting with charting and providing fiscal, and life skills for the residents. I have always had a strong passion for helping my community and the experience learned as an intern was extremely valuable.

After graduating in December 2023, new opportunities arose in which lead me to be hired as a full time Case Worker and I look forward to working with all the employees with a mission to assist our residents as best we can."I am grateful of the opportunities offered by Valley Restart Shelter. to allow me to work closely with visitors and residents to encourage them to take positive steps towards changing and restarting their lives."
