Thomas Sampson

Housing Coordinator

On July 25, 2002, I found myself homeless, a consequence of my own poor choices. However, after embarking on a journey of sobriety and a renewed commitment to life, I was employed at Harrah's Casino, where my path took an unexpected turn. The Las Vegas Rescue Mission contacted me, offering an entry-level position that sparked a yearning deep within. While juggling two jobs, my boss summoned me to his office, his expression serious He posed a pivotal question: "Is this what you want to do?" At that moment, it felt like a light bulb illuminated my thoughts. I turned inward, praying for clarity, and the answer resonated with me: "Yes, this is my future." Encouragement surrounded me as I was inspired to pursue formal education in this vital field, deepening my understanding and capabilities.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with numerous non-profits, each

experience reaffirming my dedication to a single, powerful mission: to "save as many as  you can." I've come to appreciate that each person's story is a tapestry of unique threads,  and consequently, we must cultivate diverse approaches to meet the distinct needs of our clients. This understanding drives my passion and commitment to making a real difference in their lives.

Thomas has been in this field for 17 years, from Las Vegas to Riverside. What pushes him to success, is watching someone begin their journal of finding permanent housing and realizing they have a roof over their head and a safe place to rest their heads.
